A 90s Goth Fashion Staple That Made Normies Cringe

A 90s Goth Fashion Staple That Made Normies Cringe

Sorry, I’m not fond of the word ‘normies’ but damn it, if I can’t find a better word. I also don’t like ‘elder’. It makes me feel like we live in Mordor and wear silver robes while we protect a ring. So hey, you like the song? It’s Vandal Moon – Sweet Disaster. Check em out on Bandcamp or Spotify..Or Youtube.

Basics were pretty easy back in the day but sometimes we just wanted to get extravagant with the lace, rushing and billowy layers but when that came to designated gothwear it came with a price tag in the triple digits. When you were a teenage goth or just a goth on a budget, you had to get creative and fortunately enough for us, the sleepwear section of thrift stores once held the answer. Vintage slips and nightgowns when embellished and accessorized right looked on par if not better than what was donning the storefront window of your favorite goth shop. Religious Sex, may she rest in peace. That store was both heaven and torture simultaneously. Look, maybe touch but always leave empty handed. I did get my Pennangalan Victin L5’s there in 1999 though for $200.

  • That damn heart-crushing look near the end, as you're sitting around for the fashion-show part of the video… I feel bewitched. 🖤

  • I wish slip dresses were still that cheap omg . 50

  • yes, yes and yes! you made me go thru my pictures and reminisce on all those beautiful nightgowns I wore. Very good memories with some old favourites. #ThanksForTheMemories 🖤

  • Now I am curious to find slips and nightgowns, haha! I only have those Columbian body shape wear, those bottoms that not only cover the underwear 🩲 but shape the bum, and I think a girdle.

  • yeah we did and I still do, that's the first place I hit when I go to any thrift store, Amvets always has a great selection in their undergarment section.

  • I remember some of my girlfriends wearing that look in the 80's and 90's and they looked amazing.

  • Hey angela, please dont take this the wrong way, youre beautiful and look amazing especially for your age – you look like youre innyour late 20s.

Im 31 and even though im quite slim overall, i have started to notice a double chin and that. Ive always had big pudgy cheeks too, which i was told would hollow out as i got older. Nope, still baby face cheeks. Which begs the question – have you had any work done at all or are you all natural? If all natural that is very impressive. I guess I just want to know if im not aging as gracefully as everyone else i see. And if i do need to get work done.

  • Low volume 😢

  • I had to learn how to sew because my skin is sensitive to fabric dye. organic clothing is super expensive and basic looking, so alas I get organic black fabric in bulk & make stuff even though my adhd fights me tooth and nail about how long it takes lol

  • I could seriously watch Angela talk about 90s goth fashion for hours on end.

  • nineties normies imitated goth

  • We will making a Gothic Street Style Fashion in 2024. Its little challenge.
I have never design a Gothic Fashion. Sometimes you have to jump about yourself in live.

  • That video just soothed my little 90s soul🖤 ❤🖤☠️

  • As a teen nowdays i associate with going onto thrift shop sleepwear category so i can find cool clothes and then diying them

  • The outfit you're in while you're talking is great! As for the slips, that blue was so STRIKING. It really hits you, and it looked great on you. The white was good too, but I tend to darker colours. (gee, wonder why). If you have any time to make a DIY video on the stitching and making of that bust line, please do. I love your DIY videos, they have ALL been great! Have a great week!

  • I think it was nicer to be able to hold the garment and decide if you wanted to spend the money or not but society did not agree lol

  • I still get asked where I bought something. People are still amazed I make it myself. I've always been fat so I've always had to make my own stuff "spicy"

  • absolutely LOVING the vandal moon in this

  • Yoo i love the atmosphere in your room 🖤🖤🖤

  • Btw, rosaries aren't meant to be worn. Their prayer beads not jewelry

  • I'm guessing the goth culture is an atheist culture, since they don't respect religion, especially catholic Christian.

  • as a babybat i love your content!! i went thrifting today and i found the prettiest lacy night gowns ever and it's amazing. this subculture is so incredible aaaaa

  • what song is in the background

  • Me before the video: okay
Me after the video: goes to the grandma section

  • I use both afterpay and Klarna when I buy clothing, klarna is nicer imo. Never had an issue with them, been using them for over a year,

  • Sexy smart sweet, black and white. Dream gal of mine. Wow.

  • Very creative times and still can be
    I find this inspiring

  • @Angela Benedict Hi! Very off topic, but do you mind sharing if you had any procedures done to your face? As in botox etc. Because I cannot believe how fucking good you look. Or is this the natural result of avoiding the sun? 🧛🏻‍♀️
