Some great footage and great bands music . But I was around during this period and saw most of these bands and still have the vinyl records and singles . So I can say …
Joy Division were "new wave " emerged around late 78 from a punk band called Warsaw. Saw them live in London in early 1980. One of my fav gigs ever and one of my fav bands ever. Peter Hook a goth ??
The Sound . Again classic new wave . The late Adrian Borland a goth ?? do me a fvaour . Saw them 4 times and they were almost as good as JD.
Dead can Dance. The first album was influenced by Goth for sure. But they quickly moved on . By the second album they were releasing neo classical music with rock/prog themes . Later they released British Celtic folk. Plus folk from foreign Countries /orchestra music etc every album different. Also saw them a number of times between 1984/90 .Fantastic . They are still around but a pale shadow of that period. Brendan Perry again an unlikely goth and says he was bemused by the many goths at those early gigs.
killer mix
